Happy Friday Peeps!
For the first time since starting this newsletter back in March, I didn’t hit “send” last week.
It felt weird but also completely necessary.
Around this time last Friday, I was in the delivery room with my wife. A few hours later, my life took an overwhelming and beautiful turn and I became a parent…a week ahead of the due date.
Amidst the chaos of sleepless nights, newborn cries, exhaustion and an emotional whirlwind, I just had to allow myself to pause. I had to step away from my weekly routine, embrace the moment fully and be there for what matters most ultimately….. my family.
It’s only been a week so I’m still coming to terms with this new reality.
In general, I’ve always tried my best to maintain consistency with things, not just on Substack but otherwise as well.
My Substack, though, is a bit special in this case because it was my own initiative. Week after week, I’ve been churning it out and that’s why the idea of missing one made me feel guilty—as if I was letting myself down.
The moment my baby arrived, however, everything else felt unimportant. My mind was preoccupied with feedings, diaper changes and the unexplainable joy of holding a teeny tiny version of myself :).
In that haze, I came to the realisation that sometimes, life needs you to pause. Sometimes, it’s okay to be off-schedule.
Skipping the newsletter last week, thus, was a decision to focus on what mattered most at that point. It’s a reminder to me that prioritising my family and myself won’t diminish my commitment to other stuff. On the contrary, I believe that it will strengthen it by allowing me to come back more connected and refreshed.
After all, it’s a cliché but the most meaningful lessons often come from life’s unexpected moments.
From next week onwards, I hope to get back into the routine, writing regularly again albeit with a little more love in my heart :).
Thank you for understanding!
Hi Naush! What great news and welcome to the little baby!
I’m not a mom but I work a lot with parents - and I understand that you need to prioritize your family 😊
Congratulations!!! 🎉
